Busted.....

This is my dog, Jack. Most of the time he's a well behaved, semi-obedient dog.

If you look closely, you will see little bits of kitty litter on the rug. If you happen to have both cats and dogs living in your house, you may be aware of this very nasty habit. For some reason, our Sheltie loves to eat cat poop. It's very gross. The vet says it's because cat food has more protein, which then comes out in the....er....byproduct. No matter how many times I scold Jack, he's back for more. Very bad dog.....

This week he had to go for another acupuncture treatment. He's been having acupuncture for a bum ankle since about Thanksgiving. At first it was a couple of times a week, then once a week, then every two weeks, now about every 6 weeks. He also had pills and massage therapy and heat. He had tripped in a gopher hole and was lame in one front leg. No one could find the exact problem, despite x-rays and several vet visits. Evidently, he pulled a tendon or ligament. The acupuncture has really helped him! He can bear weight on the leg and go for walks. But it ain't cheap and he doesn't like it!

OMG LOL, so typical! :) My mom's Maltese gets little pieces out of the litterbox and then plays with them like toys! Our one dog does the eating thing, so we got this litterbox called a Bouda Dome and it has a like a curved hallway so the dog can't easily get his head in. It's worked great. :)

The little hallway built into the box helps a lot. :)

Thanks for the catbox idea! It sounds great....I'm going to have to look into it. We always joke that Jack eats cat poop like Tootsie Rolls.

We have one cat who is really finicky about where she pees, so I'm always afraid to mess with her routine. Since we have two boxes, maybe I can change one and see if she likes it.

ooooh my gosh- the things our rascally canine friends do!!

I wish you MUCH good luck changing your cvatbox around! Hopefully it'll do the trick!

What a guilty look on your naughty pooch's face!

Our family dog, a yellow lab, used to slink into the livingroom after dinner, and go through an entire routine to let us know that he felt guilty that he'd eaten the cat food. Not guilty enough to stop eating it every night- but guilty nontheless!

He would sit next to mom, with his head way down. She'd ask him 'Did you eat the cat food?' Then he'd lift his head, look at her, and slowly leeeaaan his nose as far away from her as he could get it- because she used to smell his breath. A greedy pooch with a conscience- what a character!

He did this for YEARS, and earned the nickname 'sad sack' for it!

Thanks for sharing the tale of the 'tootsie roll' eater!

How about a drawing of the dog eating cat poop? It could be a block buster new art wave!

Christeen, thanks for sharing your dog story! I'm glad I don't have the only sneaky dog. Jack does the same thing as yours....looks away with a guilty face. Come to think of it, I do the same thing with chocolate.....

Hi Snakebite! What a great drawing idea! "Dog with his head in a litter box"

I hope Jack will continue to feel better. But, he does look so properly contrite in the picture, doesn’t he?
