EDM Challenge #113: Draw a Fence

Here's my offering for the week's challenge #113 to draw a fence. Actually, I drew a fence post. It's from a New Zealand photo that I found online at the address posted below.

It was very hard to get a good photo of my drawing without too much glare from the flash - and the colors don't look quite right either. Anyway, I like the moss growing on the post. It looks alot like Oregon.

We are working to downsize our stuff again. Last weekend we cleared out three bookshelves and we're sorting books to sell or give away. When we moved here, we had 35 boxes of books from six undergrad and graduate degrees earned between the two of us, plus tons of novels. We still have six bookshelves left.

I'm also sorting through my collection of antique art pottery and am going to try selling some on ebay or Craig's List. After working so hard to find pots at good prices, it's kind of hard to part with them. But, we have way too many.

We had a couple of terrific spring days this week, but it's gray and rainy again today....just in time for the weekend! : (

I really like the contrast of the soft moss and the wire fencing. Good pick of a source.

Thanks teri, deborah, lin, brenda, ronell, and casey! Thanks for taking a look and leaving me a comment. I really appreciate your feedback and generosity - it's been so much fun to share drawings and see what everyone else is doing.

Lin - I know what you mean about parting with books. It's very hard! I remember when I first read them and feel attached. But, I still had some old German books from college (I thought I might do some reviewing one day)and decided enough is enough. I've quit buying books now and use the library as much as possible. I wish I had a big room with bookshelves covering all the walls.

You did a great job on this! I like this a lot ... the moss looks like moss, wood looks like wood and wire looks like wire. Terrific! Cheers! Mary Ellen

Great job with the fence! I love the detail of the wire coiling around on itself...

I like that there is only a fence post and one line across it. This composition carries more punch than a whole entire fence. I love your soft, subdued coloring … they’re very peaceful to the eyes.

*Parting with things that we like or think we like is difficult. Downsizing is a tough act. It’s for the resolute and relentless.
