Here's my drawing of something with a flame, in ink and watercolor. It's an older candle on a pewter stand. The top edges have started to melt inward and the sides have gotten thin. The paper I used has horizontal ridges in it, so the colors wanted to blend sideways.
I'm glad that it's Friday! We had another busy week at the college. Tomorrow is St. Patrick's Day and we're going to a friend's house for dinner. We were told to bring beer and a good Irish verse.
The sun was out today and the sky was blue. Robins have been around. some daffodils are up. It must be spring.....

Lovely drawing. The flame has come out well and I love the detail in the pewter stand.
Nice job!!!
Oooo, I really like this. Lovely soft colors and what a pretty candleholder. Nicely done.
Lovely. I like the way the colors blended together and the flame came out very nice.
robyn, scquilt, joanne, and sydney, thanks for your comments! I learned that a flame is very hard to paint! The first time I did it, I made the colors too distinct and separate. Then I then sopped up that color and added some new, more blended paint. It's been fun to look at everyone else's flames to see how they made them.
What a nice candle! I love the colors and the flame looks great.

Gosh, great job on the candle and fantastic on the pewter!!
This is awesome. I love your point of view for this.
The detailed motifs on the candle holder are exquisite. I see that you included the subtle glow of the flame one can see through a burning candle. That’s quite a particular presentation of your observation.
